Welsh technology boss hails "Grandslam" achievement
Simon Powell, CEO of South Wales based technology supplier Comtec, has outlined five key achievements that he’s called his company’s “grand slam”, coining a topical term also used to describe the Welsh national rugby team’s five consecutive victories in winning this season’s “Six-Nations” tournament.
Powell drew upon five key milestones achieved by Comtec during the last 12 months which he believes will form a platform for considerable growth for his business during the next three years. “2007 was a great year for Comtec. Firstly, we achieved the highest sales turnover and business profits since the company was formed. Secondly we expanded into major new markets, notably winning a technology contract with Vacation.com, the largest travel marketing organisation in the USA, which will open up exciting new international opportunities. Our third key business milestone arrived earlier this year when in January 2008 we experienced our highest ever volume of monthly January sales transactions, with £750 million in sales revenue processed via Comtec systems for our clients.”
The Comtec founder also said that two key product launches have helped to streamline its proposition and demonstrate a refocus by Comtec on the leisure travel agency sector. “Our fourth key milestone was the launch of the Comtec Travelgateway, establishing the largest leisure travel network in the industry by connecting both agents and operators with hundreds of travel suppliers”, said Mr Powell. “Finally, at The Travel Technology Show we unveiled Travelconnect, our new agency selling platform which provides agents with complete booking flexibility and a range of value-added multi-media tools – our fifth business milestone which represents a step change in the agency selling system sector and heralds the arrival of Dynamic Packaging 2.0.”
Powell added that Comtec is planning to grow substantially in the UK and overseas during the next three years, through both organic means and potentially through acquisition.
